Coastal Mountains Land Trust is seeking two enthusiastic and passionate individuals to assist our land stewardship program. Both Internships are 8-week positions that will work on maintaining and improving Land Trust preserves, trails, and conservation easements. Much of the work will occur outdoors, though the position also includes office tasks. The positions will involve physical labor requiring walking in remote environments and using hand and power tools. The intern will gain hands-on experience in conservation management, trail maintenance, land stewardship, and volunteer engagement, and will develop a working knowledge of how land trust organizations function.
Position #1 is the 2022 Summer Stewardship Internship working primarily in Knox County, and based out of Coastal Mountains Land Trust’s Camden office, but with 50-75% of time spent in the field. Position #2 is our 2022 Pendleton Stewardship Internship, named in memory of long-time Land Trust volunteers Skip and Jo Pendleton of Belfast, working mainly in Waldo County. For this Internship, preference will be given to student applicants from, or with a connection to, Waldo County, who are interested in conservation, land management, and/or environmental science. High school, college, vocational school, and alternative learning students, or recent graduates are all encouraged to apply. Timeframe for both positions: Appx. 320 hours / 8 weeks, with flexible starting and ending dates between June 1 and August 31st. Compensation for both positions: $15 / hour – 30 to 40 hours / week. Work-related travel reimbursed monthly at 58.5 cents/mile.
