Very flexible schedule and the option of working from home with occasional evening and weekend event commitments expected. Primary role will be development, fostering and growing on our extraordinarily committed grassroots donors who make our work possible. Investigates, plans, and manages grant proposals and other philanthropy efforts. The Development Director will also be responsible for advancing the community presence and perception of our nonprofit in the community, including communications, marketing, fundraising and community engagement, in conjunction with the Executive Director and Development Committee.
You’ll be collaborating with a wonderful team of compassionate staff and volunteers who provide medical, dental, prescription assistance, and mental health and wellness services to our underserved neighbors. We believe everyone deserves access to quality care!
Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Align development activities by creating a comprehensive, written annual development and communication plan and calendar with clearly defined goals, objectives, timelines and responsibilities.
· In partnership with the Executive Director, execute annual fundraising plans to ensure sustainable support, including developing communication and marketing material
· Guide and manage biannual online/mailed appeals
· Research/track grant funding opportunities and draft grant proposals and reports
· Organize special benefit events, primarily house parties
· Identify, cultivate and successfully solicit major gifts/grants, with support from Executive Director and Development Committee
· Identify potential new supporters and contributors
· Oversee acknowledgements for contributions and implement donor appreciation and engagement opportunities
· Assist staff with communications to patients and community
· Ensure accurate data entry and tracking of donations and grant activities
· Create progress/summary reports for the Board of Directors
· Other tasks as assigned
Skills and Experience:
· Dedicated to the mission of the Clinic
· Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years experience in development and grant writing preferred
· Capacity to efficiently prioritize tasks, work independently and on a team
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Computer literacy and familiarity with donor management software, Little Green Light preferred
· Graphic design experience preferred
Hours: approximately 24 hours weekly, flexible. Potential to increase hours dependent on organization’s growth over time.
Compensation: $22 – $40 an hour dependent on skills and experience, potential for paid time off and other benefits dependent on hours. The Knox Clinic is an at-will employer
