Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC) is searching for a Director of Housing to join our growing agency!

The Director of Housing is an exciting new leadership role at Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC). This is a formative role for a new and significant area of focus for KCHC. We are committed to being part of solving the critical lack of affordable housing in our community–the greatest root cause of why we exist. The Director of Housing will oversee all housing related projects, including development, construction, management, and funding streams. KCHC has two significant affordable housing developments underway. These projects will result in approximately 30 units of affordable housing.
The Director of Housing will be responsible for creating a ground floor, mission-based approach to maintaining our healthy communities. This leader will design an innovative approach to property management focused on fostering and supporting healthy, balanced communities—facilities, families, and futures. Our approach will be inclusive of effective and efficient property management systems, incorporation of job skills training opportunities for clients, and providing support and education to residents where needed through KCHC’s social work team. They will oversee tenant orientation— currently being developed by our existing housing team. The goal is to foster peer support and modeling of positive behaviors within our communities. This person must be able to manage multiple high level priorities in an ever-changing environment. They must be resourceful, an excellent problem solver, highly organized, and enjoy working within a young and growing agency that is mission-driven, strengths-based, and client-focused.
We are seeking a candidate with five years of experience working in property development, management, and/or related fields. Familiarity with public funding streams as part of development of affordable housing projects and with municipal zoning and planning board approval processes, a plus. Impeccable organizational, oral and written communications skills are essential. A Masters degree in a related field is preferred.
