The Shelter Manager at the Hospitality House will run and work to support families on their path to independence. The Shelter Manager supports the operational and program areas of the shelter, which requires flexibility, multi-tasking, and an ability to think quickly with a solutions based mindset. This position is both challenging and rewarding, working closely with children as they navigate skill development and learning. The Hospitality House is composed of some of our most courageous community members, and a deeply caring staff that works within the larger KCHC team.
The Shelter Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for individuals, families, and staff. The Shelter Manager oversees both the operational and program components of the shelter. Duties include but are not limited to managing and handling operational and logistical tasks, scheduling and coordinating staff and client services, supporting residents in their individual programming– including families who are experiencing trauma and heightened emotional experiences. This important role requires flexibility and some knowledge of– or willingness to learn about– trauma informed care, reflective listening and learning, de-escalation, strengths based approaches and more. In addition to daily operations and client work the Manager is responsible for the staffing of the Hospitality House, supporting an Assistant Manager and expansive shelter team. The Shelter Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for individuals, families, and staff.
A Bachelor’s degree in mental health and human services or related field or equivalent is required. Preferred 2 years of working in residential programs, client support, health and human services, or the medical field. Must be comfortable with current technology, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn new softwares easily.
This full time salary position $54,000-$58,000 based on experience, with additional compensation for on call time. Benefits include employer-supported health insurance plans, optional dental and vision plans, life insurance, short term disability insurance, retirement plan with an employer contribution, paid time off, 14 paid holidays, including your very own birthday as a paid day off, and additional time off in the summer. Background and license checks are required prior to hire.
