We are offering a sign-on and retention bonus for full-time overnight staff!
The total bonus to be paid over the course of 1 year is $1500. 25% ($375) is paid as a sign-on bonus with the first paycheck, the subsequent three quarterly bonus payments will be made the first pay date of the month after each 3 months of employment.
Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC) is seeking Overnight Support Staff for our Hospitality House Family Shelter. We are looking for caring team players with an excellent attitude, a desire to learn and grow, and a commitment to helping families learn to help themselves. The Hospitality House is KCHC’s extended stay family shelter, providing a warm, welcoming home, and sanctuary for community members struggling with homelessness. We provide a caring, temporary “home” for up to 22 individuals at a time, half of whom are usually babies, toddlers, or school-aged children. Recognized by Maine State Housing Authority as one of the top two most efficient shelters in the state for successful transitions to permanent housing, most families will stay in the Hospitality House an average of 6 to 9 months, while working closely with our staff to access necessary resources, locate affordable housing, and prepare for their transition into stable, independent living.
Overnight staff are responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all shelter residents. Responsibilities include appropriately managing house conflicts, conducting hourly walkthroughs of the house, assisting with house chores, cooking meals for the house, and helping parents with children as needed. Staff should be comfortable maintaining good boundaries while working with people in crisis, and be respectful of individual differences, resident opinions and parenting styles. This is also an opportunity to connect with residents to offer support and practice reflective listening skills to validate resident feelings.
This position requires good judgment, flexibility, and the ability to multitask. A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience working in residential programs, client support, health and human services, or the medical field is a plus!
