Pope Memorial Humane Society Launches In-House Vet Clinic Capital Campaign:

November 17, 2023
[Thomaston], [Maine], [November 14, 2023] Pope Memorial Humane Society (PMHS) is thrilled to announce the launch of its In-House Vet Clinic Capital Campaign, unveiled on Sunday, November 12th, at Trackside Station in Rockland. The campaign aims to raise $800,000 to renovate an existing structure and establish a state-of-the-art in-house medical clinic with a dedicated veterinarian to provide top-tier medical care to the approximately 1,200+ homeless pets taken in by PMHS each year.
At the campaign kickoff event, Executive Director Tracy Sala shared the exciting news that the campaign is already 75% funded. One highlight of the evening was a $10,000 match generously provided by Kelly and Jaymie Bonavia. Not only was the match announced, but it was also met that night, with over $22,000 raised in a single evening!
The PMHS In-House Vet Clinic will offer numerous benefits, including a significant reduction in the length of stay for each animal. By providing on-site veterinary care, pets will only be at the shelter for as long as necessary, minimizing stress and illness. This streamlined process ensures that healthy animals can be made available for adoption into loving homes more quickly.
With a dedicated veterinarian, animals at PMHS will benefit from more timely treatments and surgeries, leading to quicker diagnoses, faster treatment, and improved overall health. The in-house clinic will also reduce the need for transport runs to external veterinary facilities, sparing animals the stress of travel and freeing up valuable staff time to focus on enrichment, behavioral modification, and adoption efforts.
The In-House Vet Clinic will serve PMHS and act as a community resource to decrease surrenders. By providing access to low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics, PMHS aims to empower pet owners to keep their animals at home, contributing to the overall well-being of the community’s pets.
“We are overwhelmed by the incredible support from our community for the In-House Vet Clinic,” said Tracy Sala, Executive Director of PMHS. “This clinic will be a game-changer, allowing us to provide even better care to the animals who come through our doors and ultimately find them loving homes faster. We are grateful for the generosity of our supporters and excited about the positive impact this campaign will have on the welfare of animals in our community.”
