ROCKLAND – The Strand Theatre will host “Main St, Maine: Building Welcoming and Inclusive Businesses and Public Spaces,” a free training session for business and community members, on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 2pm at the theater. The training will be presented by OUT Maine. Registration on the Strand’s website is recommended.
Do you want to put a rainbow flag up, but want to make sure that your staff and space are equipped to support and protect LGBTQ+ youth? How can you assess your location for LGBTQ+ inclusion? This training will provide participants with an overview of terminology, rights and laws, and will focus on how to create a welcoming and supportive workplace, how to back up your “safe space” sticker with tangible actions, and how to constructively address community push-back.
OUT Maine, located in Rockland, provides support and services for LGBTQ+ youth and families, and educational training for businesses, organizations, schools, and community members.
