Car-Free and Carefree on Main Street- Sunday Stroll is a monthly event, created by our community, focused on re-envisioning Rockland’s Main Street as a community gathering space. For this event we open Main Street to pedestrians in an effort to foster sustainability, creativity, community, inclusivity, and wellness through recreation, interaction, and engagement.
Rockland Rolls and Rockland Main Street are excited to announce our next Sunday Stroll will be on Father’s Day June 16th. Sunday Strolls are an opportunity for the community to gather, bike, walk, create, be inspired, and play on a re-envisioned Main Street. The street will be temporarily closed to motorized traffic between Park Street and Glovers Passage (Ada’s Kitchen) from 11am until 5pm on the 3rd Sunday of the month.
Visitors will be able to view performances, take part in activities, and enjoy the expanded outdoor space of the downtown and its businesses. Some of our recurring events include a Makers Market, the Ruckus Music Stage, Murals on Main (chalk art), City Chat (conversations with local officials), a Scavenger Hunt, and Games Galore (bowling, pickleball, basketball, cornhole etc. IN the street). Each month will have a different theme and its own unique twist on taking over the street.
This is a 100% community driven event. Sunday Stroll was created by a small group who have a vision for downtown as a gathering place that fosters creativity and engagement. Our hope is that the amazingly diverse and talented people and businesses of the midcoast want to participate. This event is held monthly on the 3rd Sunday of the month from May-October with each month having a different theme.
Come join us on Sunday June 16th 11am-5pm ON Main street in downtown Rockland to celebrate Father’s Day and Pride.
