Seventy-five Knox County businesses are creating a sunburst of light for Maine’s domestic abuse survivors in July through the Finding Our Voices “Into the Light!” Foodie Festival.
Forty-eight Knox County eateries including on Vinalhaven and Islesboro are providing a yellow food and/or drink menu item in July and donating part of the proceeds to Finding Our Voices. Another 25 Camden businesses are contributing yellow items to a raffle. And spreading light in other creative and unique ways in July are Seasons Downeast Designs and Lily, Lupine & Fern respectively providing a yellow bouquet and yellow bottles of (women-made) wine; Glendarragh Lavender Shop donating proceeds from bright yellow scarves, and Barnswallow Books donating proceeds of all the yellow books in their shop.
The yellow food and drink items tickling Knox County taste buds in July include Hawaiian Pizza at Camden House of Pizza; Curry Noodle Soup at Long Grain; Mexican Street Corn at Wiley’s food truck; Lemonberry Crunch pints of ice cream at Black Goat Test Kitchen; and the Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich at The Apron at the Owl’s Head Airport. The six Camden Farmer’s Market vendors providing yellow “Into the Light” items include Common Wealth Farm with eggs and Brazen Baking with Honey Lemon Poundcake and eclairs.
The 25 Camden businesses contributing to gift baskets for children, pets, and adults in the “Into the Light!” Raffle include Maine Sport with yellow binoculars; Jessie Tobias Design with a yellow painting; Maine Dog with yellow chew toys; and $50 worth of yellow candy from Uncle Willy’s. Every selfie with a purchased “Into the Light!” Item that is uploaded to Finding Our Voices through a QR code on rack cards associated with the event is considered one chance to win a gift basket.
