Legendary Sailor and Author Lin Pardey to Share Her Adventures at The Camden Opera House

September 26, 2024

[ROCKLAND, ME] — Join us for an extraordinary evening with Lin Pardey, one of the world’s most esteemed sailors and authors, on Friday October 4th, 7pm, at The Camden Opera House. Known for her remarkable voyages alongside her late husband, Larry Pardey, Lin will share captivating stories from their 200,000-mile journey around the globe, which included two circumnavigations in their engine-free cutters, Seraffyn and Taleisin.

Lin and Larry’s sailing adventures have inspired generations of cruisers through nearly a dozen books, which have become essential reading for seafarers worldwide. Her writing has encouraged countless sailors to embark on their own voyages, no matter the size of their boats or the complexity of their plans.

“Go small, go simple, go now.” – A guiding mantra that Lin and Larry Pardey lived by during their decades of cruising on small, engine-free sailboats. This approach has inspired many to embrace the simplicity of sailing and the freedom of the open ocean.

General admission tickets are $20 ($10 for those under 18), with all proceeds supporting The Apprenticeshop, a nonprofit dedicated to engaging and inspiring people of all ages through traditional boatbuilding and seamanship. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the event will feature an illustrated program where Lin will share valuable lessons learned from her extensive voyages. After the talk, attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet Lin in person and have their books signed.

Tickets are available online here, and early purchase is encouraged as seating is limited. For accessible seating or other accommodations, please contact dernest@camdenmaine.gov or (207) 236-3154.

This event is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from a true legend of the sailing world while supporting a vital community resource in Rockland. Don’t miss your chance to be inspired by Lin Pardey’s incredible journey!
