On Monday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Rockport Public Library will host an installation called “An Empty Place at the Table” — a moving display that pays tribute to domestic violence homicide victims from Midcoast Maine. The traveling exhibit is shown in various public spaces during the month of October as part of New Hope Midcoast’s community outreach efforts during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The display, in the form of a dinner table, has place settings donated by victims’ families to commemorate the loss of their loved ones. An advocate from New Hope Midcoast, a regional domestic violence resource center, will be present to process and answer any questions about the exhibit, as well as to share resources for survivors of domestic violence.
New Hope Midcoast is a 501c3 nonprofit offering advocacy, prevention and education services to individuals in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo Counties, Maine affected by domestic abuse, dating violence, and stalking.
