American Lighthouse Foundation

Located at Owls Head Lighthouse, the American Lighthouse Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, founded in 1994. ALF and its nine chapters have stewardship responsibility for 18 of our nation’s lighthouses, 10 here in Maine, and has invested over $3.25 million dollars in lighthouse restoration since that time. ALF operates a gift shop and interpretive center at its location inside the Keeper's House at Owls Head Light. Volunteers help to facilitate public tours of the lighthouse itself on Mondays & Wednesday afternoons, Saturdays & Sundays from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
