Bufflehead Sailing Charter LLC

Custom sailing excursions, private and open charters aboard a safe, swift, sweet wooden classic sailboat exploring and sharing Rockland's historic working harbor and surrounding lighthouses and islands. Small family-run business offering flexibility to customize your experience with our wonderful boat and local knowledge. Sightseeing or island trips, BYO, or we cater charcuterie all the way up to lobster bakes.

I have more than a decade of making great memories on custom sailing excursions and 35 years of sailing globally on tall ships and solo. Our official motto is "DO What You Want." We use the flexibility we have combined with local knowledge to make possible safe, interesting mini-adventures, curated and crafted to suit your needs.

We run our boat off the historic Windjammer Wharf in the heart of downtown Rockland, once the busiest seaport on the US East Coast. We can arrange any length sailing adventure, at any time, along glistening waters with stunning views of Maine's coastline. Embarking from our lively wharf, we will begin by sailing out across Rockland Harbor toward the protected waters of Penobscot Bay, past the federally built breakwater and lighthouses, continuing on to chase lobster boats, eagles, seals, islands, more lighthouses, and whatever wonders we can find.

Enjoy the casual atmosphere aboard an intimate wooden vessel. Sleek and beautifully constructed, Bufflehead is perfect for adults and kids to climb forward on the deck and relax while enjoying the amazing capability of this exquisite craft. Steer, haul sail, or simply relax. Bring a picnic or have us cater for you. Sail for an hour before dinner, or all day and come home full of pie and lobster.

Along the way, your friendly captain will entertain you with knowledge of the bay, interesting facts about the area and islands, and frequent visitors, such as seals, bald eagles, guillemots, and sometimes whales. See the sights from aboard one. Fresh memories are made daily.
