The Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County was founded in 1989 to provide care, protection and loving homes for abandoned and homeless companion animals in the Midcoast Maine area. The Society supports activities advocating responsible pet ownership and the prevention of abuse and cruelty, and it sponsors events and activities that promote the health and welfare of animals and demonstrate the benefits of the human-animal bond.
