United Midcoast Charities

UMC’s mission is to energize Midcoast Maine nonprofit agencies through finance and guidance, supporting a network of resources stronger than any single organization.

Our areas of focus are food, housing, health & safety, and economic security.

Through a detailed grant application and review process, over the past 35 years, UMC has awarded more than $10 million to hundreds of local agencies that have been thoroughly vetted. When you give to UMC you know the money is going to partner agencies that are financially sound, with effective programs that are creating collective impact in our region. UMC’s Board of Directors oversees our grant application and review process. The local funded partners from 2023 include clinics, food banks, soup kitchens, medical service providers, child care center, housing providers and more.

We also provide capacity-building training and support to any nonprofit working in Knox or Waldo counties, free of charge. We are proud to be your Midcoast philanthropy partner!
