West Bay Rotary Club
The West Bay Rotary Club of Camden, Maine was chartered in May of 1986. A small group of charter members decided to create a breakfast club and obtained the sponsorship of the well-established Camden Rotary Club. The Camden club continues as a successful luncheon club. West Bay has grown in membership and dedication to the spirit of Rotary over the years. The members have made many significant contributions to the Midcoast community and to the greater Rotary world. Each year the club has made financial and hands-on contributions to worthy projects and organizations in the area. It has provided vocational scholarships to assist students and heating oil funds to the three area towns for distribution. Members have supported local organizations such as Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, Knox County Homeless Coalition, One Less Worry, local food banks, and many others . While doing this, the club has supported programs of Rotary International such as the world-wide program to eradicate polio. West Bay Rotary has five major fundraising events: Chili Challenge, eWaste+, Duck Derby, Chowder Challenge, and Christmas Tree Sales/Santa’s Pass-Me-Down Workshop. Members park cars at the National Toboggan Championships, sell entry tickets at the Maine Boats, Homes and Harbor Show, and provide support for many other community projects. Membership in West Bay Rotary provides an opportunity to share with others the ability to accomplish significant results when members work together for the good of others. For over 30 years, West Bay Rotary Club has been a fine example of "Service Above Self", helping make the Midcoast better one family, one child, one person at a time. West Bay Rotary meets on Thursday mornings from 7:30 am until 8:30 am at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm St, Camden, ME 04843. Many members come as early as 7:00 am for breakfast and fellowship.
