We’re not just for vacation anymore. Our area has begun to make the list of potential destinations for corporate retreats and conferences, and this is a pretty popular place to get married, too (no surprise there). We’ve got the venues you need to run a successful business gathering, from small inns for an intimate, high-level retreat, to large hotels and resorts able to furnish all the guest rooms, hightech meeting rooms, banquet spaces, and on-site activities you and your team could desire.
As for weddings or other celebrations, whether you prefer a soaring mountaintop, a harborside park, or the deck of a schooner — some captains officiate — the region offers the perfect backdrop. Because of its scenic splendor and romantic setting, and an abundance of fine caterers, restaurants, and luxurious accommodations, our area is worth considering as a wedding destination.
Popular outdoor venues include the Camden Public Library’s historic, stone-terraced amphitheatre; atop Mount Battie in Camden Hills State Park, which is accessible by car; the Vesper Hill Children’s Chapel in Rockport, facing Penobscot Bay; and many area parks and nature preserves. And we have a host of indoor locations as well, such as the architecturally significant Camden and Rockport opera houses, and several historic churches.
In addition to ambiance, the area offers amenities to support ceremonies of all sizes — from a trolley and horse-drawn carriage for transporting guests, to local musicians, florists, caterers, and photographers.
